Interested in home design? Binge watch a lot of HGTV? Or perhaps you have entire Pinterest boards dedicated to what you hope your home will look like one day? (Yeah, the last one is very me. I’d probably binge watch HGTV, but we don’t have cable.)

Then this sweet little devotion book is for you!

DETAILS

Each devotion includes a scripture, a brief discussion of a design issue, trend, dilemma or purpose, a spiritual truth expressing an aspect of God’s love and design, and a short prayer. A design tip follows each devotion.

With ninety undated devotions you can read daily or pick and choose when you have a free moment.

IMPRESSIONS

Gorgeous interiors, inspirational quotes, and charming artwork ignite your creative juices. So many pin-worthy ideas! Although some variety exists in the styles represented a definite Magnolia/Country/Elegant Farmhouse/Rustic feel is evident in most images.

Features a pantry with green cabinets, and a peak at a nearby laundry area on the left facing page, and a short prayer. Right page has the devotion with scripture, message and design tip. Devotion featuring Hebrews 10:21-23 and "Create in me a clean heart..." prayer from Psalms.

“Create in me a clean heart…” prayer from Psalms 51:10.

Segments are quick to read and provide thoughtful elements of truth. However, a few of the devotions, in my opinion, pushed the envelope when it came to connecting scripture to interior design.

Interior design can be addicting. There’s that nagging little voice telling you to do more, paint more, buy more. You run the risk of playing the comparison game as you see beautiful homes comes to life. Or maybe that’s just me.

For this reason, a right heart and attitude makes all the difference. This little devotion book keeps things in perspective.

Suggestions to maximize space and how to use limited funds encourage stewardship. For example, buying quality that lasts may prove more frugal in the long run. I don’t know about you, but balancing pretty things for the home and stewardship is a real challenge.

CONCLUSIONS

But even in the passages where spending a little more is encouraged the focus is still on aligning our hearts with God. Which ultimately is the real goal.

Not a comprehensive study by any means, the book is nevertheless a delightful novelty devotion for anyone creating a spirit-filled home. Easy to read, bite-sized truths allow any home designer a little boost for their day.

Definitely a fun book to add to any collection. Your Heart & Home will thank you.
