Why are Veterans and service members are so dear to our hearts? Read my re-post “Weekend Warrior” originally published in 2007.

About the Book:

During his fourth deployment, US Marine Corps Sergeant Carlos Evans stepped on an IED. The loss of both legs and his left hand was just the beginning of the struggle for his life.

For the next two years, he and his wife, Rosemarie, went through the rehabilitation process together.

This is their story:

Book Review

We live in a broken, fallen world. Few human endeavors illustrate this more clearly than war.

As a Marine, Sgt Carlos Evans was uniquely trained and equipped to function in the chaos and violence of the battlefield. He was trained to fight with determination and to accomplish the mission. However, when an explosion wounded him, tore his body, and stole three of his limbs, his time on the conventional battlefield was done.

At the time, neither he nor his wife Rosemarie knew that God would use this tragedy to equip them both for a new spiritual battlefield and an eternal mission.

“Standing Together” is an honest, raw, and sometimes difficult look at the pain suffered by a wounded warrior and his family. They share their struggles, their challenges, and ultimately their renewed purpose and continuing mission.

Recommendation:

This story would be very inspirational to service members, veterans, wounded warriors, or any believers who are struggling to find their assigned mission in God’s Kingdom.
